They've landed in Hong Kong, and Chuck's seen the 'great' Raleigh Becket for the first time in years, and Chuck
Chuck needs a drink.
So yeah, he's grabbing Jax and dragging him out to a bar. The weirdo scientists' predictions for the next event are in enough time for him to get wasted and get over the hangover, so he is taking fucking advantage of that. He needs beer and he needs to rant at someone who isn't all fucking gaga over the has-been, and Jax is perfect for that. Even if he could be his twin.
"He can't be th only surviving mark three pilot," he's muttering into his third pint.

"...okay."
That doesn't necessarily means he wants to talk about it, so Chuck's not going to ask. But he won't say anything either, in case he does.

"I've been trying to find them. Tara, Abel... My mom. I've been doing it since the PPDC trusted me enough to use the internet." He pauses, looking down. "I've been so hung up on finding them, I guess I don't know what's right in front of me."
no subject
"Hey, maybe we can get you back to Charming," he suggests carefully because that 'right in front of me' is full of too much meaning for him to really be able to think about at this level of drunk. "Somehow. Eventually."
no subject
"I mean you." He says it, looking back up. "I mean, it's obvious how you feel about me. I just... couldn't see it."
no subject
Well, that's...depressing.
....and.
"..Jax I've literally thrown myself at you a few times."
no subject
He's running a hand through his hair, because, fuck, this is hard.
"I know, and I'm a dick for not accepting it."
no subject
"You weren't a dick, you're straight," he mumbles, because it's something he's had to remind himself several times.
"...unless you're saying something different now."
Which shouldn't piss him off, it's just. Emotional whiplash. And maybe some frustration.
no subject
Because he doesn't know. Chuck, for all his flaws, has been there for him since the start. Since he was found washed up on the beach.
...And it's now painfully clear that Chuck likes him more than just as a friend.
"I've... I've been holding onto the past." He looks down. "It's time to move on." Whether it's with Chuck or not.
no subject
...and is Jax seriously just getting now that Chuck has feelings for him? He's not exactly been hiding it. And Chuck's been trying to move past it, and thought he was doing pretty well at it but Jax's words send an annoying beam of hope through him.
"Okay," he says quietly.
no subject
Still, he looks up to Chuck. "I'm sorry."
no subject
...and that sounds pretty final and Chuck's pulling away, face going flat. Why'd he even say all that shit to Chuck if he wasn't--but. "Okay," he says again, stiffer.
no subject
"...Did I say something wrong?" Because he's sobered enough with the confession that he can notice that.
no subject
"You..." Ugh Jax why did you have to wait until supreme alcohols happened to bring any of this up. "You said I'm sorry, like, you're sorry you want to move on but not with me," he manages, scrubbing a hand through his hair again.
"Is that...?" No?
no subject
no subject
"Well it wasn't." Yeah okay well he's felt responsible for Jax ever since he found his arse washed up on shore so he might've taken a peek at his records.
"You just said you were trying to move on from her?" He didn't misunderstand that part, did he?
no subject
He moves forward, putting a hand on Chuck's shoulder. "You're all I really have." All he really wants, if he's honest with himself.
no subject
that's really good to hear. Chuck's shoulders relax and he steps into Jax's space, hands at his waist. "I thought you were looking for her and Abel," he admits quietly. "Like you could get your family back."
And jesus but he wants to hear that. "You can't say that shit if you don't mean it," he says, voice lower and fiercer. He's sobering up too as this goes on, and he almost wishes he could stay drunk for it. It's not that he doesn't believe Jax, it's that he wants to too much.
no subject
He stepps closer into Chuck's arms. "Then let me prove it." And leans in to kiss him on the lips.
no subject
Chuck's hoping none of this is alcohol-fueled or. That Jax isn't going to remember any of this in the morning or.
Because he's sliding his arms around his waist and kissing him back, sucking lightly against his lower lip.
no subject
Chuck gets pushed backwards into the wall of the alley as Jax presses himself up against him.
no subject
For now he lets Jax push him against the wall, hands bunching in his shirt to hold him closer. There might be a bit of a grin against Jax's mouth.
no subject
no subject
Not that it's going to stop him kissing Jax some more and maybe slide his hands fully around his waist.
